Taupō electoral manager, Vicki Reardon, is urging people to get out and vote this election, whether before Saturday, November 7 or on the day.
She says the message is if you want your voice heard, come along and vote.
This year’s election has gone slightly electronic with the easy vote card, she says.
“So, some will get it at their email address, and some will be posted, but… you don't need it. If you can't find it, or it hasn't come through your mailbox or through to your email, step into one of the voting places and the team will assist you and point you in the right direction to cast a vote.”
She also advises people to allow themselves plenty of time to vote in case individual polling booths get busy.
“We've got a good spread over Taupō in the whole of the Taupo Electorate, particularly on election day, but we've got advanced voting at the CBD Starlight Centre in Taupo, the old picture theatre, Waiora House, Christian City Church in Tōtara Street… and in Tūrangi at the Tongariro Senior Citizens Hall. They would be the key ones for the Taupō district.
On election day, as usual, Reardon says many primary schools will be doubling as polling booths.
“But the high schools are busy with, of course, their exams. So, please, we're not at the colleges for this year and that's purely for the setup for the exams, but we’re at all the other schools. Just go on to Vote.NZ and you'll get the full hours and all the places that are open around the community.”
