Taupō AFC is calling for women interested in football to join their ranks, with two pre-season musters planned for February at Crown Park.
Social women's coach and club secretary Jess Mobberley says the sessions are perfect for anyone curious about getting involved in football.
"We gather outside the football club and then we make our way over to one of the fields," Mobberley told Lake FM. "We'll just kick a ball around, get back into it, start feeling how the ball feels on the field, and then after that we'll go back into the club rooms, sit down and have a chat about what the season is going to be like ahead."
The club offers two pathways for players - a competitive W League team and a social team. Both teams compete in the Waikato region, with matches typically played in locations including Hamilton, Cambridge, and Mangakino.
"It's a really good bunch of ladies to hang out with," says Mobberley. "Some days you have to pretty much write your Sunday off so that you can go out and play, but you come back to your family all refreshed."
The first muster will be held at 7pm on Tuesday, February 4th, with a second session scheduled for 6pm on Thursday, February 13th. Players are welcome to attend either or both sessions.
Interested players can find more information on the Taupō AFC Facebook and Instagram pages.
