A one-off evening event at Lake Taupō Hilton at the end of July will celebrate New Zealand's truffle season with a nine-course menu curated around premium Ōhiwa Black Diamond Truffles.
The Truffle Experience is designed to showcase some of New Zealand's most sought-after ingredients and Hilton Lake Taupō marketing executive Ayesha Rahim says the event is for all, whether seasoned truffle lovers or those just eager to discover this seasonal delicacy for the first time.
“Basically, every course will feature the truffle… if you're willing to try something different, something new… we invite everyone.”
The Hilton’s executive chef Rudolf Segers will be designing the degustation menu, she says.
As well as educating their palates, diners will also learn more about the stories behind the truffles. Guests will hear directly from the growers about the harvest, the craftsmanship involved, and the journey from farm to table.
Rahim says as many of the Hilton’s degustation dinners and multicourse dining experiences are done at the cellar lounge, guest numbers are a bit more limited.
“It's quite exclusive in the sense that it's a smaller crowd that's in there, so it's quite intimate.”
But this setting allows guests to interact and enjoy a truly immersive dining experience, she says.
Reservations are open now for the one-off Truffle Experiences on Friday July 31 at 6.30pm, at Bistro Lago at TRUFFLE SEASON – Bistro Lago
