Motorists will notice traffic management continuing on state highways around Taupō as new asphalt needs 30 days to cure before weigh-in-motion technology can be installed.
Motorists will be able to use SH1 between Ātiamuri and Wairakei from this afternoon, with temporary traffic management and reduced speed limits in place.
Residents of Tūrangi have until mid-May to make the case for the SH1 speed limit through the town to remain at 60km/h and not revert to 80km/h.
