We’re returning to complete the final surface on approximately 8.2km of SH1 between Tokoroa and Ātiamuri.
Work schedule: Starts Sunday 9 November, continuing for 20 night shifts (weather dependent).

To manage the large volume of asphalt being laid, overnight road closures will be required.

  • The northern sites (north of Kinleith Road) will be completed first, followed by southern sites (south of Kinleith Road).
  • Work will begin near the Kinleith overbridge.
  • From Sunday 9 November, SH1 will be closed overnight between 7pm and 6am, from the SH1/SH32 intersection (Tokoroa) to the SH1 Kinleith intersection.
  • Detour: SH32 → Old Taupō Road → Kinleith Road → SH1.
    • Adds approximately 5km and 5 minutes to travel time.
