Rising stars Rumpus Machine have been announced as the headline act for the 2025 Mangakino Lake Hop, bringing their viral success and classic rock covers to the September event.
The teenage siblings, currently aged between 13 and 16, have been making waves across social media platforms, accumulating over 30 million views and attracting attention from music industry legends. Their cover of The Doors' "People Are Strange" even caught the eye of the band's original drummer, John Densmore, who shared their performance.
Fresh from opening for Cold Chisel in front of 17,000 people at the Taupō summer concert, the band will perform throughout the day at the Lake Hop and continue into the evening at the Mangakino Club after-party.
The group's repertoire includes covers of rock classics from bands like Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, and Metallica, alongside their own original compositions. Their recent success includes placing third in the 2023 New Zealand Battle of the Bands in Wellington, and their TikTok following continues to grow, with their rendition of "Sultans of Swing" alone attracting millions of views.
The Mangakino Lake Hop will take place on September 27th, 2025, with registration details to be announced.
