Police have released the names of two teenagers who died following a single-vehicle crash in Acacia Bay, Taupō on Friday, January 17th.
The victims were 19-year-olds Purity Anne Te Pairi and Tamatoa Kimi, both from Taupō.
The crash occurred on Mapara Road around 11:45pm that Friday night, with emergency services responding to the scene. Both young people died at the scene of the crash.
The road was closed overnight while the Police Serious Crash Unit conducted their examination, reopening shortly after 7am the following morning.
Police have indicated that inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
