Tremains Real Estate has been announced as the official naming rights sponsor for the Volunteer Great Lake Taupō Service Awards, reinforcing their commitment to community engagement in the district.
The partnership was revealed this week, with the real estate company's newly appointed Taupō manager Sarah Davidson expressing enthusiasm about the collaboration.
"This is a huge opportunity for us," Davidson told Lake FM. "We're a very community-minded brand and when we were approached about sponsoring initially one of the categories, we actually saw this as an opportunity that we could jump on board and have this as a Tremains event. So we think that it's an awesome event to get behind and we're really proud to have our name associated with this."
Since its founding in 1970 by former All Black Kel Tremain, the company has maintained strong community connections, with Davidson highlighting their existing local involvement.
"We've had the Tremains Santa Parade for the last two years, we have that again this year and we're looking forward to continuing that relationship as well," Davidson said. "We've got some community sponsorship out there for Taupo-nui-a-Tia College as well, and there's also a Tremains Community Trust."
When asked what she would say to those considering volunteering, Davidson was enthusiastic based on her own experience: "I would say one hundred percent get in and do it. In the past I volunteered at a cattery in town which I found hugely rewarding. You're not doing it for any accolades and you're not doing it for anything other than just knowing that the time that you're giving is a reward in itself."
The 2025 Tremains Volunteer Service Awards will take place at the Great Lake Centre Auditorium following the COMAVOL – Community and Volunteer Expo on Saturday, June 7th. Nominations are now open across four categories: Youth Volunteer Service Award, Shining Stars Award, Volunteer of the Year Award, and Top Team Award.
