Water restrictions put in place in Taupō, Waitahanui, Kinloch and Wairākei over the busy summer period have now been lifted.
These areas had moved to level one water restrictions in January as demand for water increased during a period with little to no rainfall.
"With autumn temperatures starting to kick in and rain becoming more common, demand for water has reduced and level one water restrictions are no longer required," according to a Taupō District Council media release.
The council praised community efforts during the restriction period. "We really appreciate that everyone responded to the water restrictions, only using sprinklers every second day. Reducing water use makes a big difference to our water treatment plants that can only treat a certain amount of water each day."
While the formal restrictions have ended, the council reminds residents to continue being mindful of their water use, particularly with outdoor sprinklers and irrigation systems.
