New Zealand driver Jaxon Evans is eager to make his mark as the Repco Supercars Championship heads to Taupō this weekend for the third round of the 2025 season.
The ITM Taupō Super440 will see five Kiwi drivers competing on home soil, with Evans among those hoping to emulate the success of fellow New Zealander Andre Heimgartner, who won the inaugural race at Taupō last year.
"It's a very special feeling," Evans said during a media conference. "It's obviously nice to have that experience overseas racing different cars all over the world but to be back in New Zealand in a supercar, the Kiwi fans are super passionate about V8s and it's a great show, so it's really nice to have that home crowd advantage."
Evans, who drives the SCT Racing Chevrolet Camaro for Brad Jones Racing, is yet to taste victory in Supercars after a successful career in Europe but remains optimistic about his prospects for the remainder of the season.
"I'm obviously very excited to hopefully try and secure some good results. I obviously want to go out and win races or get trophies, but taking baby steps at the moment," Evans said. "I'm confident that we can be consistently inside the top 10 and hopefully grab a trophy or two by the end of the year."

The weekend will feature the first ever Super 440 format, which includes dual 120km races on Saturday and a 200km race on Sunday. Defending Supercars Champion Will Brown currently leads the points standings by seven points ahead of Ford driver Cam Waters.
A Track to Town event will kick off proceedings on Thursday, with thousands of fans expected to line the streets to welcome the Supercars to New Zealand before practice begins on Friday.
