Taupō Library is introducing a new bi-monthly programme that allows young readers to read stories to dogs.
🐾📚 Paws and Pages at Taupō Library 📚🐾
Boost your child’s reading confidence — one story at a time!
Join us for Paws and Pages, a heartwarming programme at Taupō Library in partnership with Canine Friends Pet Therapy - New Zealand.
Children can enjoy a calm, supportive environment where they read stories aloud to friendly therapy dogs 🐶💛

Why Paws and Pages?
Paws and Pages is a proven success story, giving tamariki a safe and encouraging space to:
✨ Build reading confidence
✨ Develop important literacy skills
✨ Share their voice without pressure
✨ Enjoy the magic of storytelling
Because sometimes the best reading buddy has four paws!
How it works
📖 Children can choose a book from the library shelves or bring a favourite from home.
🐕 Therapy dogs will be available for approximately one hour, with 15-minute reading slots for each child.
💬 It’s not just about reading — it’s about confidence, connection, and having fun.
