The big screen is coming to Tokoroa, this Saturday (March 15) as the sun sets at Lake Moananui.
The outdoor movie night is jointly organised by Four Square Balmoral Drive (Tokoroa), Four Square Mangakino, and Four Square Putaruru, with locals having voted for the classic musical 'Grease'.
Whether you're a movie buff or just looking for a fun night out with friends and family, says Four Square Mangakino owner Gurpreet Bains, this is a chance to relax under the stars and enjoy a movie – all for free.
Local food trucks like Burger HQ and Love Your Kai will be on site, he says, and ice blocks and movie snacks will be available for sale. Since taking over as the owner of Four Square Mangakino in November last year, Bains has got involved in what he says is 'an amazing community'.
He has sponsored local events like golf tournaments and wakeboarding as well as supporting the town's volunteers.
One of the shop's biggest commitments is to the local school, he says, with the store providing breakfast every Monday – ensuring every child starts the week with a full stomach and the energy to learn.
"Mangakino is a special place with so much potential," says Bains. "And I'm passionate about making a real difference while helping to shine a light on all the great events and people that make this town what it is."
The movie on Saturday will begin screening around 8pm and people are encouraged to bring their own blankets or picnic chairs.
