The Taupō Concert Band will fill an evening spot in the midday concert series in June.
The band’s June 13 concert at St Andrew’s Anglican Church features a variety of tunes including a nod to midwinter with the atmospheric Huron carol ‘Moon of Winter’ and ‘A Home Alone Christmas’ by movie score maestro John Williams.
The band will also deliver a bump or a wink to acknowledge it being Friday the 13th as well as a couple of solos from new or young band members, Patrick McCarty (trombone), Jess Riley (alto saxophone) and Rachel Chester (clarinet).
A couple of medleys from the swing era to more recent artists like Coldplay and Michael Jackson are included to add some spice to the mix.
The $10 entry fee to the concert which starts at 7pm (doors open 6.30pm) includes a light supper.
