Regardless of what voters may think of their performance in the council chamber, attendance records for Taupō District councillors show most attend more than 90 per cent of the time.
However, Mayor David Trewavas attendance percentage for council meetings is the lowest at 79 per cent.
Records covering attendance at council meetings and workshops as well as, separately, their attendance at committees (meetings and workshops) of which they are members reveal some close, but no one with a perfect record.
The number of committees on which councillors sit varies – anywhere from two or three to up to six or seven, with the mayor as an ex-officio member of all committees. For this reason, his attendance percentage for these is not available as the council feels it is unrealistic to expect the mayor to be able to attend every committee meeting.
From the start of the current triennium up until the end of August, Rachel Shepherd, Yvonne Westerman and John Williamson are all recorded as 100 per cent present at council meetings and workshops while their committee record is 96, 95 and 93 per cent respectively.
Sandra Greenslade and Anna Park, who resigned in March, are at 99 per cent for council meetings and 94 and 91 per cent for committee attendance.
Deputy Kevin Taylor and Christine Rankin, together on 97 per cent attendance for council meetings and workshops, are at 93 and 91 per cent attendance on committees.
Following these two (with respective attendance percentage figures for council meetings and committee meetings) are: Kylie Leonard (94 and 89), Duncan Campbell (92 and 90), Kirsty Trueman (87 and 94), Danny Loughlin (83 and 98) and Karam Fletcher (80 and 85).
The figures do not distinguish between attendance in person or via audiovisual link.
