Road restrictions/Getting Around Taupo
We can’t wait to welcome to thousands of riders and their supporters to beautiful Taupō. Over event weekend, there will be some road restrictions around town as follows:
- Tongariro Street (Te Heuheu St to Spa Rd) northbound lane closed Fri 28 Nov 9.00am - Sat 29 Nov 9.00pm. Southbound lane (Spa Rd to Te Heuheu St) will be closed Sat 29 Nov 4am-10.15am then reopen to traffic.
- Tongariro Street (Roberts St to Te Heuheu St) both lanes closed Sat 29 Nov 4.00am - 8.30pm
- Redoubt Street (Story Place to Tongariro St) Sat 29 Nov 5.30am-10.15am
- Roberts Street (Ruapehu St to Tongariro St) closed Sat 29 Nov 4.00am - 8.30pm
- Roberts Street (Titiraupenga to Ruapehu St) westbound lane only closed Sat 29 Nov 4.00am – 8.00pm. The eastbound lane will remain open to traffic, and pedestrian access will be available to customers of businesses such as Briscoes and motels.
- Titiraupenga Street (Roberts St to Lake Terrace) both lanes closed Sat 29 Nov 4.00am - 8.00pm
- Lake Terrace (Ruapehu St to Titiraupenga St) closed to public traffic Sat 29 Nov 4.00am - 8.00pm. Motel and residents to enter and exit via Ruapehu St
- Lake Terrace (Kaimanawa St to Titiraupenga St) northbound lane closed Sat 29 Nov 8.00am - 8.00pm
- Lake Terrace (Mere Rd to Kaimanawa St) northbound lane closed Sat 29 Nov 8.00am - 3.00pm
Poihipi Road Restrictions
Poihipi Road from Wairakei Drive to Whangamata Road from 5:30am to 10.30am event day will be closed for westbound traffic, ie. traffic traveling from Taupo to Kinloch. There will be a detour in place, please follow signs. This will affect not only residents on that road but all the feeder roads. We regret the inconvenience caused and hope you can overcome the restrictions by scheduling earlier or later travel plans. Western Bays SH32 will be open but thousands of cyclists will be riding so progress will be slow. If you do have an emergency situation a 111 call will still respond.
