Get ready to stomp, snip, stuff and stitch!
In partnership with the Recycle-O-Saurus community exhibition at the Taupō Museum, we’re excited to present Fabric-O-Saurus — a fun, hands-on workshop designed to spark imaginations and turn textile waste into roaringly good creations.
The workshop explores a different way to get creative with fabric, reuse materials, and have a whole lot of fun along the way.

✂️ What We’ll Be Making
This workshop is all about fabric and textiles, shining a light on the waste hiding in our wardrobes and discovering creative ways to give it a second life.
- No sewing experience needed — beginners welcome!
- Suitable for ages 5+
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
During the workshop you can:
- 🦕 Create a Dinky Dino, or
- 💥 Help stuff a giant BOOM Rock for our Over The Road Shop exhibition entry
💥 BOOM Rocks & Big Community Energy
We’ll be making three BOOM Rocks — one for each Hospice shop — celebrating creativity, connection, and community.
And don’t forget… our Hospice shops are bursting with fantastic, weird, wonderful and unexpected treasures perfect for creating your own artwork for this boom-tastic exhibition!

Boom! Let’s Get Started
Wednesday 11 February 2026 | 3.30 – 5.30pm
Feeling stuck? Not sure where to start? Wondering what on earth you can use?
This workshop is your creative kick-off!
We’ll explore:
- What the Recycle-O-Saurus exhibition is all about
- How to turn ideas, sketches and scribbles into a plan
- Size, scale and timeframes (so your dino doesn’t get too big!)
- What materials work best — and where to find them
We’ll provide a range of fabric-based materials for you to take away and get started.
The shop will also be open at the end of the session if you’d like to hunt for extra treasures to add to your project.
You’ll also have time to make a Dinky Dino or help stuff a BOOM Rock during the workshop.
