A Tauhara College student involved in a traffic accident near the school yesterday (Monday, May 11) was taken to Taupō Hospital for medical care by emergency services.
Police say they responded to a collision involving a motorbike and a pedestrian on Taharepa Road, just after 3:20pm and one person was taken to hospital with what appeared to be moderate injuries.
The road was closed for a short time and reopened just after 4pm.
A message on the college’s Facebook page mentioning the incident said: “Our thoughts are with the student and their whānau at this time. We also acknowledge the staff, students, and emergency personnel who responded with care and professionalism.”
The post said support and pastoral care would be available for students and staff.
