How to help farmers survive the current dry spell is the focus of a series of workshops being run by Beef and Lamb New Zealand with one for Taupō area farmers in Mangakino on Thursday, April 3.

Rachel Jukes, Beef and Lamb NZ extension coordinator, is encouraging farmers to attend to gain insights on practical approaches to help their farms recover next season.

“Do come along and get some good advice,” she says.

The workshop ‘B+LNZ Surviving the Dry: Practical Solutions for Farmers’ at 2-4pm at the Mangakino Club, will feature guest speakers Emma Poole talking about animal health issues such as facial eczema and the parasite burdens that will return with rain and TotalAg Agribusiness consultant Rob McNab looking at strategic decision making, stock class prioritisation and the use of nitrogen fertiliser in autumn to build winter feed.

Registration for the workshop is essential and can be made via the events page on the Beef and Lamb NZ website or through Event Management.
